Netflix Raises Subscription Prices in Nigeria Again

Netflix has once more increased its subscription prices in Nigeria, marking the second time in just four months. The latest hike has pushed the cost of the Premium plan up to ₦7,000 per month, up from ₦5,000. The Standard plan has also seen a rise, now costing ₦5,500, compared to the previous ₦4,000.

This new pricing comes after a similar adjustment in April, when the Premium plan was increased from ₦4,400 to ₦5,000. The Basic plan has gone up to ₦3,500 from ₦2,900, while the Mobile plan has increased to ₦2,200 from ₦1,600.

Netflix explained that these adjustments are part of its strategy to boost revenue and expand its content offerings. The company has also introduced plans for a cheaper, ad-supported subscription option due to increased competition from other streaming services like Showmax.

The timing of this price hike is challenging for many Nigerians who are already facing tough economic conditions. The rising costs of entertainment are forcing some households to reconsider their subscription services.
